55% of Delhi NCR College Students Feel This One Thing Is Holding Their Career Back

You're sitting in a placement prep seminar, half-listening, and suddenly it hits you — that one classmate already has two internships, a GitHub full of projects, and somehow also a social life. And you're still figuring out what your "skills" even are. That feeling? Apparently very, very common.

We put this on Boomm and asked college students one straight-up question: What's your biggest insecurity right now — Placement chances π or Lack of skills π οΈ? Two options, no filter, just honesty.
The Results Hit Different
55% voted for Lack of skills — beating out placement anxiety, which pulled in 45%. So more students are sitting with the feeling that they're not equipped enough, even before they get to the placement round. It's not the outcome they're scared of first — it's whether they even deserve to show up.
What the comments said was more interesting, though.
"imposter syndrome got hands fr"
"everyone seems more qualified somehow π"
And then there was the one that quietly summed up the whole vibe: "career panic hits randomly" — like it's not a constant hum, it just ambushes you between classes or at 2am before a submission.
So What's Actually Going On?
Ngl, this split makes sense for the Delhi NCR college scene. Between Greater Noida campuses, South Delhi coaching circles, and Faridabad students commuting 2 hours for an unpaid internship — everyone's running a silent comparison game. The pressure isn't just about getting placed anymore. It's about feeling worthy of being in the room. That's a different kind of weight.
And lowkey, recognising that feeling is step one. But no cap — you're probably more prepared than you think. The question is, do you believe that yet?
So tell us — which side are you on: placement pressure or the skills gap spiral?
