100% Delhi-Noida College Students Want More Free Time But Only 20% Actually Take It

If someone asked: "Do you want more free time?"

Everyone would say yes.

If someone said: "Skip your classes and take today off."

Everyone would say no.

This is the paradox of Delhi NCR college students.

We asked on Boomm: "If nobody judged you, what would you choose?"

"More free time" — 87 votes
"More money" — 20 votes

87 out of 107 students would choose time over money.

But in reality? They're choosing money. Because:

Placement Pressure:

Classes are mandatory (attendance is tracked)
Internships are competitive (you need the experience)
Grades matter (CGPA cutoff for placements)

Financial Pressure:

Can't afford to study slow
Need to earn asap
Time is expensive in Delhi

Social Pressure:

Everyone's grinding
Taking time off = falling behind
FOMO (fear of missing opportunities)

The comments were resigned: "I want rest but the system doesn't allow it." "Free time doesn't exist in Delhi colleges." "By the time I'm free, I'm too tired to enjoy it."

Here's the reality: Delhi/NCR students are busier than their counterparts anywhere. Why?

Commute burden — 2-3 hours daily for many
Cost of living — Need to earn, can't just study
Competitive pressure — Too many colleges, limited opportunities
Parent expectations — Can't waste time

So yes, they want free time. No, they can't take it.

The burnout is real. The tiredness is chronic. And the paradox is: If you actually took time off, you'd probably do better. But you can't afford to find out.
